Shelter Participation Framework

Keys to Kindness Initiative

Shelter Participation Framework

Keys to Kindness collaborates with animal shelters through a structured and transparent community initiative designed to connect housing stability with support for animal welfare organizations.

Participation in the initiative is voluntary and does not create referral relationships, compensation agreements, or transactional obligations.

Eligibility of Participating Organizations

Keys to Kindness supports organizations engaged in animal welfare and shelter services.

To ensure responsible administration of donations and alignment with nonprofit governance standards, participating organizations must meet one of the following criteria:

Registered Charity
The organization is a registered Canadian charity in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Charity-Endorsed Organization
Organizations that do not hold registered charitable status may participate if they are formally partnered with or endorsed by a registered Canadian charity that agrees to receive and administer donations on their behalf.

Where applicable, donations generated through the initiative will be issued to the registered charitable organization designated to receive and administer the funds.

This approach allows Keys to Kindness to support grassroots animal welfare efforts while ensuring donations are administered through recognized charitable structures.

Program Structure

• Campaign Materials
Participating shelters are provided with campaign materials, including fridge magnets, for voluntary distribution within their community networks to raise awareness of the Keys to Kindness initiative.

• Shelter Identification Code
Each participating shelter is assigned a unique identification code used solely for internal administrative tracking within the initiative.

• Connection Tracking
Inquiries originating through a shelter’s campaign materials may be recorded internally to assist with initiative administration and program reporting.

• Community Contribution
Upon successful completion of a real estate transaction and receipt of brokerage payout, a donation will be made to a participating animal shelter as part of the Keys to Kindness initiative, in accordance with established campaign guidelines.

• No Referral Arrangements
Participation by shelters does not create referral agreements, compensation arrangements, or financial incentives for introductions or client referrals.

• Information Sessions
Keys to Kindness is available to provide presentations or informational sessions for shelter leadership, staff, volunteers, or community supporters upon request.

Governance Commitment

Keys to Kindness is committed to operating with transparency, regulatory awareness, and respect for the governance standards of nonprofit and charitable organizations.
